When the boys were trick-or-treating, we found this neighborhood with a haunted garage. Every year, they wanted to go back. They kept saying that when they were too old to trick-or-treat, they wanted to haunt our garage.... Well, this year they were too old. So, they and their friends worked all day cutting garbage bags and taping them to the inside of the garage. They were so excited and had a ball scaring everyone. I'm telling you, I think they scared the adults more so than the kids. It was SO much fun and great family time with my boys. It goes by too quickly, that's for sure.
Plus, Jamie was a vampire dog and while he was very patient with me and let me put on his cape, he wasn't exactly happy. At one point, he just flopped over and was done.... you'll see the pic!
I finally got to see Paranormal Activity. I saw it yesterday with my coworker, TB, her husband and her 23 year old son. It's funny because her son doesn't like scary movies AT ALL but he said he'd go with us. I was looking forward to him screaming like a girl, but he didn't last but 15 minutes. At the first loud knock - he was outta there. LOL!
So, anyway, there was a lot of hype about this movie. I tried not to listen to any of it because I like to make my own mind up - imagine that!
I did watch the trailer and it scared me. So, I was hoping for being scared throughout the whole movie.
Really scared.
I loved this movie because it did scare me. It wasn't the "scariest movie I've ever seen". The original Halloween was the scariest movie and still is to me. A lot of people don't get it, but we all have those times when you were young and you couldn't sit through a movie, well Halloween was mine. It plays on my fear of the house being broken into.
Well, Paranormal Activity -plays on your fear of the dark and things that go bump in the night. have you ever woken up to the floor creaking or something falling - that is what this movie does - but it has that evil presence as well. That kind of thing scares the crap out of me.
I went during the day because I knew if I saw it at night, I would probably shake all the way home and never get to sleep (plus, I hate paying so much to go see a night time movie - I'm cheap like that). I think that this movie is one of those movies that is even better if you see it with the right crowd. There weren't a lot of people in the theatre when we went, so I didn't get to see people jump or hear them gasp or scream - I just heard myself!!!!
I do have to say that that the one negative was the camera work. It was very Blair Witch Project-y. When they were walking around with the camera, it was very jerky and it gave me a headache. So, if you get motion sickness, this isn't the movie for you.
All in all - if you like to be scared by things that go BUMP in the night - definitely give this a whirl.....
I copied the questionnaire from Blase' - he's over on my sidebar -
please go check him out. Very cool guy. Please put your answers to the questionnaire in the comment section!
This weekend, we are finally celebrating Jake's 14th (oy vey - I can't believe he's 14) Birthday! The weekend of his birthday, his brother was sick, then he was sick, then I was sick....
It's okay with Jake though because his favorite month is October. He love everything fall and Halloween. So, to celebrate, he and his friends are going to the Haunted Corn Maze. They love pretending to get lost and harassing the children of the corn. It's really quite obnoxious, so I just let them go and wait in the parking lot people watching for them to get done. I used to go with them but for some reason, they don't get how cool I really am. WTF - why the face?
After all of the kids leave on Sunday morning and I try to clean my house and the destruction 8 teenage boys leave behind, my coworker and I are going to see Paranormal Activity. I've seen a trailer for it on TV but never really payed any attention to it. Scary movies are my favorite, but they just don't make them like they used to. I'm not talking about gory, bloody movies - but movies that have you hiding behind your hands and make you jump, scary movies.
This morning, I read this article about it and I was intrigued. I don't know a lot of people who will watch scary movies but I know TB will. I can't take the boys because I just don't think it's appropriate - even though they are begging to see SAW VI (not EVER going to happen).
The movie was shot on a $15,000 budget. It was shown in college towns first and was so popular, it has expanded to movie theatres all over. I can't WAIT! I'll let you know if it lives up to the hype!

there are few shows that have been on TV that I'd call genious. In my opinion MASH and Seinfeld were genious. They were so well written and well cast. The chemistry between the characters made you want to be a part of their family.
So a couple of years ago, this new show came on and not many people were buzzing about it. I loved it. Michael Scott was the funniest person I'd seen in a long time. Jim was the hottest. Dwight was the creepiest. then, people started noticing.... then you've got a huge following.
I'm talking about The Office, people. It is genious. Last night was the most anticipated wedding since Luke and Laura's wedding. Jim and Pam got married. It was beautiful and funny and touching. I admit, I cried. I don't know about y'all but I want a man who toasts me like Jim did Pam and who has been waiting his whole life for her. I'm such a hopeless romantic....
I loved the show and loved how they took the youtube dance entrance sensation and ran with it. It was so funny. Dwight and Angela were the funniest!
If you haven't watched the Office - get Netflix and catch up. it's really worth it.
I just love giving stuff away. So in honor of October being
Breast Cancer Month - this is what I'm giving away:
A notebad with pen, pink fuzzy pen, breast cancer magnet and a pink sharpie. All you have to do is leave me a comment and you're entered. If you say something in your blog about my giveaway (and let me know you've done so) you'll get another entry. I will draw next Monday, October 12th. I know the picture stinks, but the lighting was bad this morning.
On to other things. Ole Miss beat Vandy.... and only moved up one in the NCAA standings. They play #3 Alabama at home this weekend. Come on Rebs!!!!!
Vikings vs. Packers. I was really sad to see the Pack lose last night. I really wanted Favre to go down. Maybe in November. I just wanted karma to come and bite him in the a**!!!
I don't have any funny stories to tell as of late. I was sick last week and over the weekend, so I've been laying low.
The boys are wanting to do a Haunted Garage for Halloween this year, so pics and stories to come!
I'm a single mom of two boys, a dog and a cat. I'm landlocked in Memphis and just want to get back to the beach in Florida. My life should be a musical. I randomly break out into song and dance.
